The snow is falling in Sheffield but fortunately we've got through the week without it holding up any deliveries and we've all made it in and home safely be it on foot or sleigh! Our factory is located on the "ambulance run" between Sheffield's two big hospitals, which means lots of noisy sirens but plenty of gritted roads!
We've also had delivery of our Talented Totes samples for this year and it's all very exciting with the arrival of lots of colourful bags. Talented Totes is our own brand range of ethical and sustainable bags .. from purses to laptop cases and weekenders. Here's one of my favourite tote bags ....a bright, bold floral on natural Juco fabric that kicks homespun vintage into touch!
We're also getting ready for our run of trade fairs. Lucy and Jane will soon be going down to London Edge, to show our wares at the UK's fashion trade fair for street and young fashion (Stand N11). We've also made the neon orange bags for the event ... not to be missed! I'll be flying over to New York to the New York International Gift Fair (Hall3 Stand 2172) together with a contingency of other businesses and the British Gift and Jewellery International trade association. I'm really looking forward to meeting our American and Canadian customers for the first time and showcasing our Talented Totes in the Big Apple.
A range of our bags is being showcased at the forthcoming Totes Amaze! exhibition in West Yorkshire. Totes Amaze! celebrates the tote bag as a canvas for artwork, and includes a selection of the best bag art that Britain has to offer.
"Once a humble way to carry shopping and groceries, the tote bag has come of age as a popular contemporary fashion item."
We're delighted to have been chosen by organiser Patrick Murphy, to join the throng of international tote designers and think that the exhibition captures a great spirit of creativity and functionality combined. Our Talented Totes collection, including the Best of British range, sits alongside a variety of tote bag projects that together reveal the amazing design potential that the eco-bag has to offer. You can take a look for yourself from 9th January - 16th February at the West Yorkshire Print Workshop, Mirfield, WF14.
