Today we've pulled aside a busy Sam Marriott for a little chat and a catch up to ask him a few questions so we can get to know him a little more.

1. What’s your job role?

Design Manager.

I manage a small design team of 5 people, contribute to, and oversee the creation of designs, concepts and layouts.

2. Why did you first apply to work at BIDBI?

To be honest, I needed a change. Although having 6 years’ experience in the design industry, I felt I was at a dead end when it came to creativity in my previous employment. Not only did the creativity side of the job appeal to me, the sustainable / eco-friendly approach to design/ printing was something new and exciting. Knowing that the company was at the forefront of sustainable tote bag printing and clearly making a difference to the environment was a major stand out factor when applying.

3. What’s been your highlight working for BIDBI?

Starting at the company as an artworker with little responsibility to becoming the design manager has been my biggest highlight at BIDBI so far.
Growing my team from 2 to 5 people has been a big achievement for me.

4. What’s your most prized possession?

I’m not really a materialistic or sentimental person so I would say my family & friends.

5. What’s your favourite food and where is your favourite place to eat it?

Easy, Italian food every time! Nothing beats pizza & pasta for me. Eating it in Italy makes a huge difference also.

6. Where is a place you would love to travel to?

I would love to travel Route 66 in an RV, eat BBQ food, visit authentic bars and live the American country lifestyle.

7. Who do you most admire and why?

I admire my beautiful Wife, for putting up with me on a daily basis.

8. What animal would be your ideal pet?

I already have my ideal pet. I have two crazy Weimaraner’s .

9. If you had a day off what would you spend it doing?

I live a very busy lifestyle, always on the go doing something. I would probably spend my day off doing DIY, gardening or on long walks with my dogs. I’m easily bored, so like to keep busy.

10. What’s your guilty pleasure?

Country music!

11. Tell us the most interesting fact you know

Otters sleep holding hands.

12. How do you make your own life more environmentally friendly?

I believe that we’re merely looking after this planet for the next generation. It’s important to work and live in a sustainable way – and to be aware of how our actions can have a knock on effect to pretty much everything. I try to do as much as I can to make my own life more environmentally friendly whether that be recycling, walking rather than driving, using sustainable sourced tote bags rather than plastic bags or turning electrical appliances off to save energy.
