BIDBI Yearly Round Up- A look Back at 2018

  • 13th December 2018

It's been a busy year here at BIDBI HQ, with many positive changes and improvements made to the business, coupled with a jam-packed schedule keeping everyone here busy all year round.

We've printed more cotton bags than ever before all across the globe, from small independent food retailers to corporate clients and designer brands, there isn't an industry we haven’t printed bags for. Take a look at our Feefo, which holds a Gold Award for consistently having a 95% satisfaction rate.

As we near 2019, let’s take a look back at the highlights of 2018.

Factory Expansion

During April we expanded our print factory, so we could keep up with the demand for cotton eco bags and provide you with expertly printed bags using the latest technologies. With the expansion we have been able to increase our capacity helping our clients meet their deadlines with beautifully printed cotton bags.

Growing Team

This year the BIDBI team has grown by 14, across all departments, we're super proud of this as providing skilled employment to the local community is important to us to ensure not only the local economy remains robust, but we're providing individuals with the skills and knowledge to help them thrive in life.

Apprenticeships and Training

At the beginning of the year two apprentices started with us. Tyrell is completing an apprenticeship in Business Admin Level 2 and has been working as part of the finance team and Adam joined us in the Print room as an apprentice printer. He has been learning the ropes from the ground up and gaining knowledge from our skilled master printers. We have three openings next year for print apprentices, if you are interested please apply through Sheffield College, we’d love to have you on board!

After the success of recruiting our first placement student Jessica, we wanted to offer the same opportunity to another university student. Helen joined us from the University of Huddersfield for a year long placement under the watchful eye of the design department where she is learning the ropes of being a designer/artworker in a busy office.

Training our current team is also high on our agenda and this year our marketing department has been taking full advantage of the training courses offered by the Digital Growth Programme. Lucy, who joined us way back in 2014 as a Graduate, started a Level 5 Operations and Departmental Manager apprenticeship aiming to hone her skills even further.

New Products

Our R&D department has been hard at work throughout the year to bring you the best quality products available. This involves visiting our partner factories in India to build on the strong working relationship we have and to ensure what we're getting is the best of the best. Keep an eye out in 2019 to see what new styles we're introducing.

Doodle Bag

It was Doodle Bag’s First Birthday in November, since the relaunch we have been providing one off designs and small orders to customers for birthdays, Christmas, retirements and much more. Doodle bag allows you to design your own bag from scratch, buy blank stock, or personalise our pre-made designs.

BIDBI were shortlisted for the Excellence in Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility Award which is given at the Sheffield Business Awards. The award commends companies which continually demonstrate a care to the environment, social issues and are committed to responsible business practice.

Awards not only show everyone we know what we’re doing, they are also a way to celebrate our employees and to show them they’re the most important part of our/any organisation. Winning the EEF Future Manufacturing regional award for Sustainability is a great accolade to have and does just this. It makes us proud to be part of the BIDBI team when we’re awarded such a great prize from a prestigious organisation.

On behalf of everyone at BIDBI, we would like to thank all our customers for choosing us, and wish everyone the best of luck for the year ahead.
