For creative types, music lovers and art fanatics, here is a selection of what the fabulous ‘Industrial City’ has in store this February. 

Valentine’s Pop-up Shop at Sheffield Winter Garden

Show some love for independent makers at Sheffield Winter Garden, where a host of independent businesses will come together to sell handmade treats. This will include handmade chocolates from Dandelion Cocoa, exotic loose-leaf tea blends from Craft Tea Company, fine silver jewellery from Maxwell Harrison jewellery and handmade quirky cards and homewear from Fizzy Pig.

Wether you want to support local businesses or pick up something truly special for your loved one, the pop-up Shop will have lots to offer: from artisan beauty products, edible creations to handmade ceramics. Or if you’re single, why not treat yourself?

Changing Lives: 200 Years of People and Protest in Sheffield

To mark the 100-year anniversary of the suffrage-fuelled Representation of the People Act, Changing Lives will celebrate the power of the Sheffield people in the past 200 years.

Weston Park Museum will host a display of history, protest and activism from the Radical Press of the 1700’s, to the miners and steelworkers strikes – amongst other championed causes. The exhibition is part of the 2018 Protest and Activism season, complimenting the Hope is Strong exhibition at the Millennium Gallery in Sheffield which explores the power of art to question and challenge the world we live in.

The exhibition will take place at Weston Park Museum (Western Bank, Sheffield S10 2TP) from Tuesday 6th February 2018 to Sunday 1st July 2018. Funk ‘n’ Doodle at The Albion

For one night only, Fellevents presents Funk ‘n’ Doodle: bringing people together to dance, doodle and de-stress in a comfortable space. The event will invite everyone to come together and add to a ‘doodle wall’, as well as enjoy funk and soul music from Sheffield-based DJ’s.

Within the world of art-therapy, doodling is credited as a form of self expression. Studies show that sketching and doodling improves our memory retention, as well we having self-soothing, exploratory and mindful effects. Funk ‘n’ Doodle is the perfect opportunity to collaborate, relax and get creative!

Canalside Night Market

Canalside is a brand new monthly street food festival bringing to you a carefully selected group of street food traders every month. Expect award winning street food to cater for every taste alongside amazing drinks, live music, DJ's and artists.

Set in the 9000 square ft Southbank Warehouse which was the former Swift Levick steelworks. This urban space plays host to some of the City's best underground club nights. Located in-between the River Don and the Sheffield Canal. The venue has a charm like no other. Sheffield is a city of food lovers with some amazing independent restaurants and pop up food shops.

February Clothes Exchange

Revamp your wardrobe the Common Thread way! It's local, affordable, ethical and eco-friendly. This time round they'll be a Weigh-In Station which will collect data about consumer habits, which will be used for research purposes, create statistics and share the results and the project’s impact on reducing environmental degradation & carbon footprint.

All you need to do is bring a bag of clean clothes in good condition, donate them to the exchange, browse the stock and take a 'nearly new' bag of clothes away. There is also a repair station and a cafe.

Give It A Crack

It's Give it a Crack's second instalment  and there are 3 new exciting things to try. Give it a crack is a place where you can learn a new skill or try something different and what's great about it is that all sessions are aimed at beginners.

The three new things to try in February are craftivism, self defence and screen printing. Tickets do sell out quickly so prebooking is essential. You can buy your tickets here.
