Our CEO Julia Gash has just won the Forward Ladies International Business Woman of the Year Award for Yorkshire and the North East at the prestigious Forward Ladies Yorkshire and North East Women in Business Awards (WIBA) regional final.
Here is Julia on stage receiving the prize!
The Yorkshire and North East heat took place at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Newcastle. 77 entrepreneurial female business leaders from across the region competed in 11 categories to be crowned the winner. You can learn more about the winners here.
Julia created Bag It Don’t Bin It (BIDBI), an ethical and ecological brand, in Sheffield in 2007. BIDBI make fair trade, branded cloth bags for some of the world’s top fashion brands, arts establishments and forward thinking businesses, as well as grass roots community groups.
Five years later Julia launched our own brand label – Talented, primarily to enable us to reach a larger, international market, which we have succeeded in doing with many key customers and distributors all over the world.
Look at Julia's happy face with the trophy. She deserves it more than anyone!
Julia says: “I am absolutely delighted to receive the Forward Ladies International Business Woman of the Year for Yorkshire and the North East. I took a risk by investing lots of time, energy and any spare cash we had into an idea that I believed would increase our stability and give us access to more affluent, international markets. I cannot believe how far we have come in such a short time and it’s wonderful to be recognized for my risk taking and hard work as well as our commitment to supporting ethical and sustainable manufacturing facilities in India.”
Here is the beautiful trophy Julia was rewarded.
Julia Gash will now compete in the national final taking place on 20 November in Leeds at the Queens Hotel. Let’s wish her luck!
