Ricky Grayson

What is your job?

I am the warehouse manager at BIDBI. My job involves keeping track of all the stock, getting stock out for printing as well as various other little extra jobs around the factory. I like to keep the warehouse neat and tidy too, so Friday afternoon is all about cleaning up.

Why did you join BIDBI?

I have experience in textiles, previously working for a company that sold rugs they hand made, and I also had an interest in printing, so BIDBI seemed like the perfect fit.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love the people I work with, and the company’s ethics. There’s also a lot to do so it keeps me occupied and out of trouble. I love mathematics and I get the opportunity to do a lot of mental maths, ensuring the stock levels are correct. Also, driving the forklift truck is really fun.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I’m indoors, I read, play Playstation or paint Warhammer figures. When I’m outdoors I like long walks in the woods listening to my music. I live near Meadowhall so will often go there at weekend to do some window shopping.

What do you normally have for lunch?

Coffee and an egg buttie is my go to lunch, and I am known eating biscuits and the occasional Bakewell tart. I have come to be known as ‘biccie Ricky’ around the factory.

If you had a fiver, what would you spend it on?

Nail polish, or if I was hungry I would buy a lunch box with Dairylea Dunkers, a Cheesestring and a lion bar.

What’s your favourite colour?

Grey and pink.

Tell me a joke.

Urrrm, pass.

Name 3 celebrities you most admire.

Kanye West, because he is a genius.

Keanu Reeves, because he is badass

David Duchovny, I like X-files a bit too much!

What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever been?

Isle of Wight. The scenery is beautiful, and it has dinosaur fossils!

If you could time travel, where would you go?

Ancient Egypt, so I can find out if an alien race really did build the pyramids.

What’s a great book you’ve read recently?

I read a sci fi book called Permutation City by Greg Egan. It contains some deep philosophical theories about aspects of artificial life and simulated reality.

What’s your favourite smell in the whole world?

The smell of a curry simmering away. I love curry!!
