This weeks blog is guest written by Jan, our newest Account Manager.

Hi! My name is Jan Sutton and I am the Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Account Manager. I have worked at BIDBI for just 9 weeks. I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge of my new role. I have never done anything like this before! IT and myself are relatively new acquaintances!

I am responsible for managing accounts such as Lush, Liberty of London, Hobbs, Oliver Bonas, Men’s Society to name just a few, and lots of new smaller businesses. I love to get to know my customers and build a strong relationship. Customer Service is at the heart of everything I do. I think this comes from my 25 year background as a Fashion Retail Manager.

Recently I had an opportunity to visit 3 clients in London and spent the day with Julia our CEO. What a day! We set of on the 7.40am train from Sheffield, arriving in London at 10.06am, after having a good catch up on the train getting to know each other’s interests  a little better, we spent time working on quotations that were coming in from India in preparation for one of our meetings later that day.

On arriving into London later than expected, and into what was a heatwave! We charged across St Pancras to get on the tube and onto to our first destination at Chessington.

We had a couple of near misses almost missing one train and being involved in a good banter on the journey almost forgetting to get off another!  Running between appointments literally and calling down taxi’s to help us to our destinations. We were almost melting.

Our meetings were very successful and interesting. We had lunch at Kennington Oval in a great café within a hub of creativity and businesses, where the lovely Italian man serving us looked like Dustin Hoffman and waved like crazy after Julia as she left!!

Straight off again across London to our next appointment. After ‘being on the run’ for almost 6 hours through London we made our way through Hyde Park, glimpsing Buckingham Palace and onto Pall Mall for a much needed pot of tea at the Institute Of Directors for our final meeting.

At 5pm we set off back to St Pancras in the middle of the rush hour with our case full of samples, grabbed some goodies to eat on the train home at 6.30pm. Once the train was on its way, and a glass of wine later, it was back to business – following up on a plan of action from our day’s requirements for our clients. 8.50pm we rolled back into Sheffield and off to our respective homes and so to bed!

All ready and set for the next day back in the office. A great experience and a great opportunity for building relationships with our clients! I look forward to the next opportunity.
