On a bitterly cold, dark January morning I set off from Sheffield as a snow storm conveniently blew over, allowing me to get my plane to New York City. I was taking our new brand of printed sustainable bags to show at the New York International Gift Show.
We'd been pulling everything together the week before ... printing, photographing the new Talented Totes samples and getting together our literature and stand props. As Jane and Lucy travelled down to a fashion show in London I went overseas to showcase the best in British bag art to American and Canadian buyers.
This is our first proper collection and it's been lots of hard work over many months to come together but we've made it! I designed some of the collection but have brought in young-and-up and coming designers, Cherith Harrison from Edinburgh and Nicole Lochers from Paris, who creates the witty and fun, Maude and Tilda range. It's looking good ...
My body clock is still on Greenwich Meantime and so I was up early, which was fine as it gave me lots of time to while away at a 24/7 diner. Good call ... breakfast in America .. you can't beat it with a big stick! The walk to the show was so special .. seeing the Empire State Building glinting in the morning sun.
It's been a good day. Meeting lots of retailers from all over the States and Canada and they just get our Talented Totes. My feet are sore but it's all for a good cause. We'll see what the next few days bring but I'm loving being in the big Apple and finding lots of new Talented Totes friends and followers.Tweet
